Our client, a long-term partner based in Chile and operating in the engineering equipment sector, has been working with us for ten years. Every two years, we collaborate on gift projects, building mutual trust along the way. This year, the client requested that we replicate the original wrench-shaped coffee mug we designed for them. However, they also wanted to take a leap forward with a fresh, innovative design. Despite their desire for innovation, the client team hesitated, questioning whether the new style was feasible, and if the design and craftsmanship could be realized.

Drawing on our years of expertise in the coffee industry, we confidently assured the client that we could handle both the design and manufacturing challenges. We encouraged them to share their ideas with us and assured them that we would handle the rest, turning their vision into reality.

From Concept to Reality: Expertly Navigating the Path of Innovation

After a week of internal discussions, the client decided to proceed with the new coffee cup design. They sent us a rough sketch of a hexagonal wrench-shaped mug.

Product Feasibility Analysis

Upon receiving the client’s sketch, we held an internal meeting with the R&D and production teams to evaluate the feasibility of the design. We analyzed the product’s structure, craft, and production process, including potential risks such as deformation or excessive material waste, ensuring that all possible issues were addressed before proceeding with production.

Professional Recommendations

After completing the analysis, we offered the following recommendations to ensure the successful realization of the client's vision:

1.To achieve the hexagonal shape, the mug needed to be designed with a double-layer structure. The outer layer would remain round, while the inner layer would take the desired hexagonal shape. This required two molds: one for the hexagonal interior and one for the round exterior, which would then be fused together.

2.A small hole needed to be incorporated at the bottom of the cup to allow gas to escape during the firing process.

3.The hole at the bottom would be sealed with a silicone pad to maintain the cup’s aesthetic appeal.

The client was impressed with the suggestions and praised our prompt and professional response.

Crafting Excellence:

Once the client confirmed the recommendations, we quickly optimized the design to ensure it met both technical and manufacturing requirements. Within a single day, we completed the 3D design and sent it to the client for approval. The client was surprised by the speed and accuracy of our work, and once again, expressed their appreciation for our expertise. After internal discussions, the client confirmed the design. We didn’t proceed with the mold-making immediately, as it was crucial to ensure the accuracy of the molds. Instead, we 3D printed the cup and sent it to the client for review. The client was satisfied with the size, structure, and dimensions, confirming that the design met their expectations. We quickly developed the first batch of samples within 2-3 weeks, and upon delivery, the client was extremely pleased.

At the same time, our production department conducted an internal process analysis on the samples developed once, and found that the shape of the cup needed to be further optimized. Considering the problem of mass production molding, the internal structure of the coffee cup needed to be optimized from a right-angle shape to an elliptical shape to facilitate mass production demoulding and product molding to avoid problems in the production process. We also actively communicated this optimization point with the customer, and the customer agreed to such optimization after receiving it. He also thanked us for our professional advice and thoughtful consideration of all aspects for the customer to ensure that the project production can proceed smoothly. After obtaining the customer's confirmation, we carried out production.
